What is a Capital Campaign?
A Capital Campaign is a church project that seeks pledged donations from members and friends of Grace Lutheran Church. These pledged donations are designated for larger capital improvements, not a part of our separate giving for our operational budget.
What are our much needed and too long deferred capital improvement expenditures?
God has entrusted 10 million dollars worth of campus facilities into our hands for His ministry purposes. It’s time to update them, make them more welcoming for the current culture, friendly and accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, safe and secure for youth and seniors, technologically adept for hearing aids and mobile phones, well-lit for cataracts and webcams. Our restrooms are cramped and out of code. Our parking lots crumble with holes, and many of our facilities appear well-worn. A covered drop-off area on Avenue C with improved access would enhance our sanctuary, increasing our curb appeal. It’s time to make our campus useful and lasting for generations to come.
It’s time…and we are excited!
What is a Capital Stewardship Campaign?
A Capital Stewardship Campaign is a church project that seeks pledged donations from members to be used for large projects.
How much money are we hoping to raise through the Capital Campaign?
The total we are hoping to raise is $1,450,000.00.
Will I be pressured to make a pledge?
No. Participation in the campaign and how much you give will be entirely up to you. All members and guests will be given the opportunity to contribute if they wish to do so.
How may I prepare to participate?
Allow God to speak to your heart through prayer. Read Scripture passages that speak about stewardship and giving, such as 1 Corinthians 16:2, Proverbs 11:25, Proverbs 3:5-9, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Acts 20:35, Luke 6:38, and Psalm 116:12.
How long will my commitment be?
You are asked to make a 3-year commitment.
If I can’t give a large amount, does my pledge really matter?
Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount, because as we all participate according to our ability, God multiplies our giving.
When are we expected to give the amount pledged?
Pledge cards will be turned in on March 12-13, 2016 and pledges will begin to be received shortly thereafter.
What forms of contributions will be accepted?
Contributions can be made by cash or check. Other forms of contributions can include the transference of title to marketable stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.
May I update my commitment after Celebration Sunday?
Yes. You may update your commitment at any time.
Do you have to be a church member to participate in the campaign?
No. Participation in the campaign is a personal decision for each of us, and anyone may contribute to God’s work in our church.
